Sustainability

AtlasMasland is committed to creating a healthier planet for the people of today, as well as for future generations. We believe that true design is timeless, and that our responsibility to the environment shares an equal footing with aesthetics. Our goal is to find the most effective and least wasteful ways to create products from the very beginning, and that each product has the least amount of impact on the environment throughout its entire life-cycle. By focusing on conservation of energy, sustainable selection and efficient use of raw materials, managing waste, and recycling, AtlasMasland is building the foundation for the creation of a healthier planet.

We are continually striving towards creating a better planet for today as well as tomorrow. Our efforts embrace the use of new technologies for more efficient ways to manufacture products, the conservation of natural resources, and the reduction of landfill waste. Everything we do has an impact on our planet, and we are committed to creating the smallest possible footprint on the environment.

As we move into the future, AtlasMasland will continue to expand on their commitment to our planet, in order to create beautiful products, as well as creating a healthier planet.

Our Committment

AtlasMasland is committed to creating environmentally friendly productsfrom the very beginning. Whenever possible, we partner with suppliers withinour 500 mile radius, in order to foster business for our local communities, aswell as reducing transportation costs.

Our primary nylon supplier is Invista, whose Antron Legacy and Antron Lumena fibers are both certified as Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP). The certification is provided by Scientific Certified System, a third party authorized to verify environmental claims.

The EPP rating looks at the Total Environmental Impact of a product throughout its life cycle and compares it to similar products. AtlasMasland broadloom uses Hardwear™ Plus, Permalok™ & Unilok™ backings, which contain a highly refined recovered mineral endorsed by the U.S. E.P.A. known as Celceram®.

Green Fabrication: Eco-friendly Raw Materials

AtlasMasland believes in working smarter to create our products, and eliminating wasteful production methods. We have initiated a program in our tufting facilities to reclaim waste yarn by rewinding short ends of yarn at the completion of production cycles. By combining these short lots of yarn and returning them to manufacturing for tufting, more than 330,000 pounds of yarn per year is recycled back into our manufacturing processes.

As of 2005, AtlasMasland began sending all of our carpet and yarn manufacturing waste to reclamation centers. This diverts approximately 100,000 pounds of post-industrial carpet, automobile parts and roof shingles among other products.

Since 1999, reductions in natural gas and water used for the dyeing of yarn and carpet and the finishing of carpet have been reduced 22% and 17% respectively. In addition, electricity has been reduced by 26% during the same time period Since 1999, reductions in natural gas and water used for the dyeing of yarn and carpet and the finishing of carpet have been reduced 22% and 17% respectively.
